What is the Treatment for Swine Flu

The treatment for the swine flu is capsule Oseltamivir, which you can get it from the government hospital, which is cited above. As per body weight, doses can be adjusted.

Body Weight and Recommended dose are given below, you can go through it…

  • ≤ 15 kg (≤ 33 lb) – recommended dose – 30 mg
  • >15 kg – 23 kg (> 33 lb – 51 lb) – recommended dose – 45 mg
  • >23 kg – 40 kg (> 51 lb – 88 lb) – recommended dose – 60 mg
  • >40 kg ( > 88 lb) – recommended dose – 75 mg

Treatment for Infant babies

  • < 3 months – 12 mg bid for 5 days
  • 3-5 months – 20 mg bid for 5 days
  • 6-11 months – 25 mg bid for 5 days

Treatment of Serious Person

  • Uncomplicated H1N1 Patient – Cap. Oseltamivir 75 mg BD 5 days
  • Signs & symptoms of Pneumonia – Cap. Oseltamivir 150 mg BD 10 days
  • After 10 days treatment, X-ray shows signs of Pneumonia – Continue Oseltamivir OR Replace Oseltamivir with Zanamivir 7 days.

Warning Signs for Children

  • When a baby is breathing very fast and it troubles to breathe for baby.
  • Baby is cyanosed or baby’s skin will be a bluish color.
  • Baby unable to drink enough liquid and eat enough food.
  • Baby would be more irritable
  • Baby suffers from fever and worse cough shows symptoms like the flu.
  • High-grade fever with a rash.

Warning Signs for Adult

  • Facing difficulty in breathing or shortness of breathing
  • Pain/pressure in the chest or abdomen
  • Sudden dizziness.
  • Confusion.

How to Prevent Swine Flu by General People

  • Always cover your mouth and nose with a tissue whenever coughing and sneezing. Make sure dispose the same tissue into the dustbin.
  • Always wash your hands with soap and water, especially when you cough and sneeze.
  • Each time it is not possible to wash hand with soap and water. You can use sanitizer or any disinfectant or alcohol-based hand rub for clean the hands. It is available all the medical stores.
  • Avoid closing contact with sick people.
  • Do not touch eyes, nose, and mouth without hand washing.
  • Stay more than one arm far from the sick person.
  • If you are sick and a reason is influenza, then stay at home work or school. Limit contact with others.
  • Avoid hand shaking and spitting on open places.
  • Avoid going in crowd places.
  • Always eat nutritious food.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Take proper rest and sleep.
  • No need to use the mask for common public. Using handkerchief or tissue is more than enough while sneezing and coughing.
  • If you find more people sick with influenza or swine flu, immediately contact concern health authority.
